Basic Systema: Movement and Principles
Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 08:29PM An overview and hands-on introduction of the principles and training methods of Russian Systema.
Every physical practice contains or expresses a belief system or point of view, expressed in the habits that it is trying to impart. Systema is quite unique in its' direct training of adaptability, creativity, and your own natural expressions and responses. No mimicking or repetitive movement, just learning your own strengths, limitations, and edges. With awareness, a limitation can change from a burden to a tool or opportunity to learn.
Plenty of challenge, plenty of fun, plenty of new insight.
We will touch on:
- An overview of Systema Principles
- Basic movement and breathing
- Developing relaxed strength
- Tools for freeing the body
- Evasion and movement
- Maintaining your Integrity
- Striking
- Fear, Tension, and Freedom under stress
- Holds and Locks
