Discovering Physical Health

I am so very excited to be announcing this workshop. I've been noodling around this terrain, exploring the body from many points of view for twenty years now. It is finally time to start sharing what i've come across. If you've ever worked with me or heard about my work, or rolfing in general, and wondered how I came to work the way I do, how I see bodies and movement, then you want to come to this. This is the first step in expressing everything I've come to understand so far about bodies in the world.

Underlying every field of study, every particular belief system, technique, or modality, is the truth of how bodies work. Our culture recognizes bodies as machines, nothing more. How can you talk about the health of a machine? It would make no sense. So, we don't; we talk about fixing, adjusting and maintenance. Our body is way too complex and dynamic to function well that way. No matter what your regular practice is, it is limited by a particular perspective; it teaches the body to optimize for a certain result. Come learn a language of health that underlies it all. If you build your basic capacities, you can improve your function no matter your history, background, or goals.

The goal of the weekend is to leave you with a new body of experience and a language/perspective that will shape your choices and allow you to determine for yourself what your body needs, and how best to get it. (That may be changing the way you do what you're already doing, or picking something new or different) Count on having a clearer understanding of how bodies work, how yours works, and what it needs to become actively healthier. There's much more to health than "fitness", particular skill, or lack of illness. Come find out for yourself!

You'll see the outline in progress here.

The details: Time: March 28-29, 9am-2pm
Cost: $200 before March 13th, $250 after
