Systema Continuum Workshop

Systema Continuum:

August 29-30, Portland, ME. (flyer, pdf)

Note Date and Location change!!! There will be a warm-up class from 6-8 pm friday night on the eastern prom, middle parking lot. Saturday and Sunday are at Aikido of Maine

2 days $220

If you would rather pay by check, let me know you're coming, and bring it to class.

Systema ("the system"): A system of training that maximizes physical, physiological and psychological capacity under all conditions.

Continuum: One of the fundamentals of systema training is constant movement. Continuous movement keeps us free and able to take advantage of the opportunities available around us, especially in the real world of preemptive work, ambush, weapons, or multiple attackers. We will be exploring this principle deeply in various environments, with and without weapons.

The optional third day will focus on work against multiple attackers and prevailing in mass attack scenarios.

If you’re coming from away, take advantage of this opportunity to visit the beautiful Maine Coast in summer! Brunswick is convenient to Islands, Beaches, Freeport Outlet Shopping, the Portland Waterfront and Old Port districts, and the stunning Midcoast region. The White Mountains are less than 2 hours away. There’s something for the whole family!

We'll meet for an informal dinner Saturday night.

About the instructor: Kwan is an excellent Instructor and highly accomplished student of Systema. You can see more of his work at http://www.youtube.com/user/systemadotus.

Update: Kwan has a new video out! He'll be bringing copies to the workshop....

Kwan has studied extensively with Vladimir Vasiliev in Toronto and Col. Mikhail Ryabko and Maj. Konstantin Komarov in Moscow. He is the Director of Russian Martial Art Arizona. Kwan started training martial arts at the age of 6 (in Shotokan Karate). His adult years involved in-depth study in Chinese Gung Fu, Indonesian Pencak Silat, and Philipino Martial Arts as a "closed door" student.

Kwan now represents Systema exclusively (since 2001) and is "one of the top senior instructors of Systema" (V. Vasiliev) in the United States. He has trained with Special Operations personnel in the US and Russia and became certified to teach Systema by the founders Vladimir Vasiliev and Mikhail Ryabko. His students include law enforcement officers, military personnel, former no-holds-barred fighters and the general public. Kwan is a structural engineer by trade and has a Masters in Business Administration.
